ArabPlast puts focus on sustainability

Trade show features recyclable packaging and effi cient machines

ArabPlast again proved its regional status with its 2017 edition, hosting 972 exhibitors and 19,080 visitors from 39 countries at Dubai’s World Trade Centre on 8–10 January.

“For the Middle East, this has become the main show,” Engel’s Andreas Leitner told Packaging MEA. “It’s good to be here to see existing customers and new customers. This is an exciting place to be.”

Led by principal sponsor Borouge, the theme of corporate responsibility and sustainability was reflected in recyclable packaging and efficient machinery that cut waste, downtime, and carbon footprint.

Arburg premiered in the region its Allrounder Golden Electric injection-moulding machine. WM Thermoforming Machines brought its new Twist 500 tilting concept to the Middle East after launching it at K 2016.

Bunting Magnetics sold an FF Drawer Gate Magnet and its display equipment. Engel’s stand showcased how quality means competitiveness with its caps and closures systems and plastic pallet manufacturing machinery.

On the materials side, A Schulman and NATPET highlighted their Polyfort and Polyflam PP joint venture, Milliken presented its technology-leading clarifiers and nucleators for PP resin.

Borouge held seminars on advanced materials solutions for applications including packaging.
