Maggi introduces sustainable Mug Noodles to reduce plastic packaging

New Maggi Mug Noodles: A sustainable solution for noodle lovers, reducing plastic packaging by 83%.

Maggi has made a significant change to its popular cup noodles with the launch of Maggi Mug Noodles, aiming to reduce plastic packaging by 83%. The new Maggi Mug Noodles are designed to be prepared directly in a standard at-home mug, eliminating the need for the traditional plastic cup.

These new noodles cater to consumers who prefer enjoying their instant noodles at home. Available in four-packs and featuring popular chicken and beef flavors, Maggi Mug Noodles offer a sustainable alternative for noodle enthusiasts.

Monique Koning, Nestlé’s Head of Marketing for Foods, emphasized the company’s commitment to addressing consumer preferences while reducing environmental impact. Koning stated, “We know many of our consumers enjoy eating instant noodles in a cup at home – so we have re-thought the cup.”

The launch of Maggi Mug Noodles represents a significant milestone in Maggi’s sustainability journey, with further efforts underway to minimize packaging impact. Additionally, Maggi’s 2-Minute Chicken and Beef Noodles now come wrapped in wrappers made from 50% recycled plastic, employing the mass balance approach. This initiative is expected to save a considerable amount of virgin plastic annually.

Reflecting on these advancements, Koning expressed pride in Maggi’s role in reducing plastic packaging within the instant noodle category, affirming that this marks just the beginning of their sustainability journey.

Both Maggi Mug Noodles and Maggi 2-Minute Chicken and Beef Noodles with wrappers made from 50% recycled plastic are currently being introduced to store shelves.
