Nairobi, Kenya — July 2025
The AFRIPACK Expo 2025, held from July 2–4 at Nairobi’s Sarit Expo Centre, brought together packaging industry stakeholders from across Africa and beyond. Now in its 10th East African edition, the trade show ran alongside the AFMASS Food Manufacturing Expo and four other sector-specific events, creating a broad B2B platform for evaluating developments in materials, machinery, and integrated systems.
Over 8,000 attendees from more than 80 countries and 150+ exhibitors participated in the three-day event. The show floor featured a wide array of packaging solutions including biodegradable films, paper-based containers, refillable systems, and recyclable materials. On the machinery front, visitors saw demonstrations of automated form-fill-seal lines, robotic palletizers, AI-based quality control units, and modern labelling and coding systems. Cold-chain and ERP-linked processing systems also featured prominently.
The event reflects East Africa’s growing importance in regional supply chains, driven by increased urbanization and rising demand for formal retail and packaged goods. Kenya, with approximately 30% urban population, is increasingly viewed as a hub for packaging innovation and trade access.
AFRIPACK was structured around six co-located expos, including themes in fresh produce, hospitality, home and personal care, animal feed, and logistics. Organizers noted that “the co-location allows deeper engagement across sectors involved in product handling, storage, and distribution.”
A parallel summit featured over 30 hours of conference programming, including technical panels and live demonstrations. Topics included regulatory shifts in packaging sustainability, automation in food manufacturing, and investment priorities in East Africa’s industrial landscape.
Major exhibitors such as Bühler and AGF Freezer emphasized strong interest from global technology providers in the African packaging market, forecasted to surpass USD 14 billion by 2031.
