SIG and ALCA Corp have announced the launch of the first commercial products filled on SIG’s next-generation aseptic spouted pouch system featuring in-line pouch sterilization. The new system, SIG Prime 55 In-Line Aseptic, removes the need for third-party pre-sterilization of pouches. The debut will take place at Anuga 2025 in Cologne, Germany, from October 4 to 8.
The launch marks a significant step in aseptic pouch technology. ALCA Corp is the first company globally to bring products to market using the new filling system, which combines SIG’s long-standing experience in aseptic pouch filling with its decades of expertise in aseptic carton technology. The in-line sterilization process allows pouches to be sterilized directly within the machine, reducing operational complexity, costs, and logistics dependencies.
The Prime 55 In-Line Aseptic delivers up to 55 pouches per minute and supports flexible filling volumes from 30ml to 500ml. By eliminating external sterilization, it aims to improve food safety, efficiency, and sustainability in aseptic pouch production.
ALCA is expanding its portfolio with the launch of an aseptic pouch using SIG’s CloverCap closure, featuring its flagship fruit ingredients — banana and MD2 pineapple.
As part of the rollout, ALCA is introducing Farm to Pouch, a pilot initiative to gather market feedback and develop co-packing opportunities for global brands.
Andro Mandakovic, Commercial Global VP at ALCA Corp, said: “We’re excited to take our long-term partnership with SIG to the next level.”
Ricardo Rodriguez, President & General Manager Americas at SIG, added that the launch “showcases our ability to combine food safety, efficiency, and flexibility.”
