Almarai has signed a multimillion-euro contract with JBT Marel for the supply of three advanced fish processing lines, marking a significant investment in the company’s growing seafood portfolio. The agreement supports Almarai’s strategy to diversify its protein offerings while strengthening domestic food production capacity in Saudi Arabia.
Under the contract, JBT Marel will deliver integrated processing solutions designed to handle multiple fish species, including salmon and white fish varieties. The systems are engineered to enhance throughput efficiency, optimise yield and maintain high standards of product quality. Advanced automation and precision handling technologies are expected to minimise raw material waste and improve operational consistency.
While the project centres on processing infrastructure, it carries implications for downstream packaging operations. Uniform portioning, accurate grading and consistent product flow from processing lines contribute directly to packaging efficiency, particularly in chilled and fresh seafood categories where shelf life, presentation and traceability are critical. Improved raw material utilisation also supports sustainability objectives across the broader value chain, including packaging optimisation and reduced material loss.
The installation is expected to take place at Almarai’s seafood production facility in King Abdullah Economic City. The investment aligns with wider regional efforts to enhance food security and expand value-added food manufacturing capabilities.
