Amcor and Slovenian manufacturer Mediacor have partnered to launch a 2‑liter spouted stand‑up pouch for liquid home and personal care products under the Nana brand. The pouch, which is designed for recyclability in Italy, Germany, and Austria, represents Nana’s first move into large‑format refill packaging.
The new packaging, known as the AmPrima® 2‑Liter Refill Pouch, replaces two 1‑liter PET bottles, achieving up to 80% less plastic use and reducing the carbon footprint by as much as 64%, according to figures based on Amcor’s ASSET lifecycle assessment model certified by Carbon Trust.
Nana, which has offered ecological cleaning products in 100% recycled PET bottles for nearly a decade, collaborated with Amcor to adapt its filling lines to accommodate the new format. The pouch is also consistent with EcoLabel certification, supporting the brand’s environmental positioning.
As ecommerce continues to grow as a key sales channel for Nana, the pouch has been designed to withstand the challenges of online distribution. It is ISTA 6A certified, meaning it meets drop‑test requirements of up to 1.5 meters without leaking, ensuring durability during transport.
Trivko Matovic, Head of Sales and Marketing for Mediacor, said: “It is not only what is in the product that matters, but also what it is packaged in. Together with Amcor, we have taken an even stronger step towards sustainability. Thanks to Amcor’s responsiveness and expertise, we have now launched 19 products in a recycle‑ready refill pouch, only nine months on from our first meeting.”
