Amcor launches all-plastic Grace head for Wave pump with focus on design and recyclability

The new Grace head is designed for Amcor’s recyclable all-plastic Wave 2cc pump.

Amcor has introduced the Grace head for its all-plastic Wave 2cc pump, aimed at the personal care market. The development focuses on combining consumer-friendly design with recyclable materials, as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to support circular economy practices.

The Grace actuator is designed for both function and form. Its structure is intended to fit ergonomically under the hand while offering a streamlined appearance. Consumer testing highlighted ease of use, precise dosage control, and visual appeal as key strengths. The pump provides an output of up to 2 cc, allowing for consistent dispensing while reducing product waste.

Manufactured entirely from polyolefin, the Wave pump is recyclable in regions where appropriate collection and recycling infrastructure exists. It is also compatible with recycled content, capable of incorporating up to 30% CleanStream® recycled polypropylene (rPP). In terms of recyclability standards, it achieves a RecyClass B rating when used with PET bottles, and a C rating when combined with HDPE bottles.

The design also allows the pump to dispense a wide range of product viscosities, from light lotions to thicker creams. This makes it suitable for a variety of personal care products without the need for multiple dispensing formats.

“We designed the Grace head to prove that recycle-readiness and beauty can go hand in hand. Consumers want packaging that looks and feels premium, and we’ve achieved that without compromising on circularity aspects,” said Lara Alemany, product line director, beauty and wellness at Amcor.

With the Grace head addition to the Wave pump system, Amcor continues to expand its portfolio of recyclable dispensing solutions, addressing both design expectations and environmental considerations in packaging.
