Amcor Supplies Recycled Polypropylene Packaging for Maison Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Hand Creams

Recycled plastic packaging continues to gain traction in the beauty and personal care sector.

Maison Guerlain’s recently launched Aqua Allegoria hand creams are now packaged using Amcor’s CleanStream® post-consumer recycled (PCR) polymer, the packaging supplier announced Tuesday.

The new packaging integrates Amcor’s CleanStream® technology, which mechanically recycles household polypropylene (PP) waste into high-purity recycled plastic. This material meets requirements for contact-sensitive applications and is designed to maintain product integrity and brand image.

Amcor says the CleanStream® process uses multiple artificial intelligence-driven steps—automated identification, sorting, and decontamination—to achieve a quality level suitable for premium packaging applications.

The Aqua Allegoria hand creams contain more than 97% natural-origin ingredients. According to Amcor, the packaging design supports both product protection and sustainability objectives without compromising visual aesthetics or performance.

“The beauty sector has the challenge of reconciling what were once considered the opposing requirements of luxury and sustainability,” said Marine Sueur, sales director for France at Amcor. “CleanStream® was developed to bridge this gap with a high-quality polymer that can match the characteristics of virgin material.”

The bottle is made entirely of PP and is recyclable where appropriate infrastructure exists in Europe. It features a multilayer construction and is screen printed, with a matte colorless varnish applied to both bottle and cap. The packaging is available in three colors, corresponding to different product variants.

Design-wise, the packaging takes inspiration from a honeycomb shape, echoing the bee emblem long associated with the Guerlain brand. Production of both bottle and cap is carried out at Amcor’s manufacturing sites in France, enabling a localized supply chain for the brand’s packaging needs.
