ASRY and Roboze establish advanced additive manufacturing facility in Bahrain

ASRY and Roboze launch additive manufacturing hub.

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) and Roboze have signed a partnership agreement to establish Bahrain’s first facility dedicated to advanced additive manufacturing, to be located within ASRY’s premises in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The agreement was signed in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, and Giorgia Meloni, President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, highlighting the industrial significance of the initiative.

The new facility is designed to support marine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities, alongside applications in the oil and gas, energy, aerospace, and defence sectors. These industries require access to high-performance, lightweight, and durable components to ensure operational continuity.

Under the partnership, ASRY and Roboze will jointly define and engineer the production infrastructure. The facility will integrate industrial additive manufacturing systems, processing of super-polymers, composite manufacturing capabilities, and digitalised production workflows.

The objective is to reduce equipment downtime, optimise spare-parts inventory management, and enable on-demand production of critical components. This approach is intended to lower logistics costs and reduce dependence on overseas suppliers.

The collaboration combines ASRY’s experience in industrial operations and maintenance with Roboze’s expertise in additive manufacturing using high-performance materials, recognised by the Kingdom of Bahrain as a Strategic Technology of Interest.

The project may also connect with RAM – Roboze Advanced Manufacturing, the company’s global network of decentralised smart factories delivering qualified production closer to end users.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Ahmed AlAbri, Chief Executive Officer of ASRY, said the partnership strengthens MRO capabilities and expands access to technical components required by the industries it serves.

Alessio Lorusso, Chief Executive Officer of Roboze, said the collaboration enables a production model tailored to marine repair, energy, and defence applications.

The new centre is expected to contribute to Bahrain’s production capacity.
