Bobst introduces FLEXJET module to streamline digital multilayer label production

The new FLEXJET module enables single-pass digital printing for complex label formats, addressing evolving industry needs.

Bobst has launched its new FLEXJET module, aimed at enhancing digital label production through streamlined multilayer printing. The module was officially unveiled at Labelexpo Europe 2025 and is designed for integration with the Bobst DIGITAL MASTER series of presses.

FLEXJET enables single-pass, fully digital production of extended content labels, including multilayer formats. It also supports digital printing on the glue-side or liner-side of labels. The system has been developed in response to growing demand for short-run, customized label jobs and increased regulatory requirements.

According to industry projections, the global market for multilayer labels is expected to reach $45.78 billion by 2033, growing at a compound annual rate of 5.8%. From 2022 to 2027, short-run label production is anticipated to increase by 16.2%, reflecting a broader shift toward flexible and personalized solutions.

The FLEXJET module delivers several operational efficiencies over conventional multi-pass production workflows. Based on simulations for a 2,000 linear meter job with one SKU, the system offers 60% savings in start-up time, 30% waste reduction, and twice the output, contributing to a faster time to market.

Slovakian label converter Litograf is among the early adopters of the technology, having invested in a DIGITAL MASTER 340 press equipped with the FLEXJET module. Eduard Vidra, General Manager at Litograf, stated that the upgrade is expected to double the company’s production capacity and increase profit margins by up to 25% on selected applications.

By consolidating multiple label production steps into a single pass, FLEXJET simplifies the process while enabling compliance with industry regulations and brand-owner expectations for traceability and consumer engagement.

The FLEXJET module is positioned to support converters in responding to shifting market dynamics and rising complexity in label production.
