Constantia Flexibles has officially inaugurated a major expansion of the rolling mill at its main plant, Constantia Teich, located in Weinburg, Lower Austria. The €50 million investment aims to enhance aluminum foil production by 30%, increasing the annual output to approximately 90,000 tons. This move strengthens the company’s position as one of the largest integrated producers of aluminum foil in Europe.

The expansion includes the installation of state-of-the-art equipment sourced from European suppliers, including three foil stock furnaces, a rolling station, a separator, three double chamber foil furnaces, and an expanded high-rack storage system. Additionally, the project incorporates a lacquering line, supported by a €30 million investment in recent years.
In line with its sustainability goals, the plant will partially rely on renewable energy, including a large-scale, company-owned photovoltaic system, contributing to the reduction of approximately 100,000 tons of CO₂ emissions.
The facility’s enhanced capabilities will support key growth sectors, including coffee capsules, pharmaceutical, and food packaging. The first commercial production from the expanded mill has already commenced, reinforcing the company’s strategic focus on local, sustainable aluminum production for the European market.
The expansion is also expected to strengthen the regional economy, creating long-term jobs and ensuring a stable supply of high-quality packaging materials.
Local officials, including Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Lower Austria, Thomas Salzer, emphasized the importance of such investments in securing the competitiveness of the regional industry amid challenging market conditions.
