Cosmo Films has introduced a transparent BOPET lidding film that combines anti-fog functionality with sealable and peelable performance for refrigerated food packaging applications.

The primary development lies in the integration of an anti-fog coating within a BOPET-based lidding structure while maintaining controlled peel strength and optical clarity. Condensation inside packs remains a common issue in fresh produce and ready-to-eat food segments, particularly under cold storage conditions. Moisture build-up can obstruct product visibility and affect shelf presentation. The company stated that the newly introduced film is designed to reduce internal fogging, allowing contents to remain visible throughout distribution and retail display.

In addition to its anti-fog properties, the film is engineered to provide sealable and peelable performance across compatible tray substrates. Achieving both moisture control and consistent peel behavior within a transparent BOPET structure requires balancing surface treatment, coating application and sealing parameters. The development addresses the need for packaging materials that maintain clarity without compromising opening convenience or seal integrity.

According to the company, the film is intended for applications such as fresh fruits, vegetables, salads and other perishable food products that are stored and displayed under refrigerated conditions. By limiting condensation and maintaining pack transparency, the material supports product visibility, which remains a key requirement in modern retail formats.

The launch reflects ongoing efforts in the flexible packaging sector to enhance functional performance within established polymer systems rather than introduce new material categories. With retailers and brand owners seeking packaging that performs consistently across cold chain environments, improvements in anti-fog durability and peelable sealing characteristics are becoming increasingly relevant.

Cosmo Films did not disclose production scale or market rollout timelines in its announcement.
