Coveris has launched a new resealable monomaterial tray solution designed for refrigerated food applications. Named MonoFlexBP, the tray is intended to replace non-recyclable, multi-material packaging while extending product shelf life and improving consumer convenience.
Designed as part of Coveris’ No Waste mission, the MonoFlexBP tray features an advanced resealing mechanism that enables repeated opening and closing. This functionality helps to reduce food waste by maintaining product freshness after initial use.
In addition to the tray, Coveris also offers thermoformable bottom films that provide product protection and help preserve shelf life. For applications that require high oxygen barriers, the company provides a PET- and PA-free lidding film that can seal, peel, and reseal on polypropylene trays. This resealable lid includes a high gas barrier to support the integrity of perishable contents.
“We are extremely pleased to launch MonoFlexBP tray for refrigerated goods. With this sustainable alternative to non-recyclable materials, Coveris continues to lead the way in circular packaging innovation, offering high-performance solutions that address both environmental impact and consumer demand,” said Katja Killian, BU Flexibles Business Development Director at Coveris.
The recyclable tray solution is compatible with existing packaging machinery and is suited for a range of chilled foods, including processed meats, sausages, cheese, and dairy products. It is available with optional high gas barrier properties to extend product freshness.
The trays can be printed using gravure or flexographic methods and are offered with a matt or paper-effect lacquer finish for branding needs.
Coveris will showcase the MonoFlexBP tray at the FachPack trade show in Nuremberg, Germany, from 23–25 September 2025, at booth 232 in hall 4.
