ECCBC to Acquire Voltic and WARL from CCBA and The Coca-Cola Company

A strategic acquisition deal marks ECCBC’s expansion in West Africa’s beverage bottling sector.

Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC) has signed an agreement with Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) and The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) to acquire two key subsidiaries operating in Ghana: Voltic (GH) Limited and West African Refreshments Limited (WARL).

Voltic, currently a subsidiary of CCBA, and WARL, jointly owned by CCBA and TCCC, represent significant assets in the Ghanaian beverage sector. The acquisition is expected to strengthen ECCBC’s position within the Coca-Cola system in Africa, enabling it to operate with a more integrated beverage platform. This platform aims to improve service capabilities in the Ghanaian market while delivering value across the supply chain.

ECCBC, an authorized Coca-Cola bottler in 13 countries across North and West Africa, brings over three decades of experience to the region. The company will assume responsibility for the preparation, packaging, distribution, and sales of Coca-Cola-branded beverages in Ghana, including Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, and Voltic.

CCBA is currently the eighth-largest Coca-Cola bottler globally by revenue and accounts for over 40% of Coca-Cola beverage volumes sold across Africa. With operations in 15 countries, CCBA’s primary focus remains on South and East Africa, where it sees strong opportunities for long-term sustainable growth.

Alfonso Bosch, CEO of ECCBC Group, stated: “As a company with a strong presence in Africa, we are deeply committed to the continent’s growth. We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of Voltic, a leading water business in the region, and WARL.”

Sunil Gupta, CEO of CCBA, added: “This transaction allows CCBA to focus our attention on our core markets in Southern and East Africa and prioritize resources for sustainable growth opportunities on the continent.”

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions.
