El Alamein Pack installs Komori GL-640 advance to enhance packaging production

El Alamein Pack’s new Komori GL-640 advance press installed at its Egypt facility to improve packaging print quality and production efficiency.

Egypt-based packaging converter El Alamein Pack has installed a Komori GL-640 advance offset press, expanding its production capabilities and strengthening its position in high-volume packaging print applications.

The six-colour press, equipped with an inline coater, is designed to support consistent print quality, colour stability, and high-speed production across long runs. The installation is expected to enhance the company’s ability to meet growing demand for folding carton and commercial packaging applications requiring precision and repeatability.

According to details published by Komori, the GL-640 advance incorporates automation features aimed at reducing makeready times and improving operational efficiency. These include systems for quick job changeovers, optimised ink control, and reduced substrate waste, contributing to more efficient use of materials and resources during production.

The press is also designed to support a wide range of substrates, allowing converters to handle diverse packaging requirements across sectors such as food, consumer goods, and retail. The addition of inline coating capabilities enables the application of protective and functional finishes within the same production cycle.

The installation was carried out in collaboration with Komori and its local partner SEDY Egypt, which provided technical support during the commissioning process.

The investment reflects a broader trend among packaging converters in the Middle East and Africa region to upgrade printing infrastructure in response to increasing demand for higher quality standards, faster turnaround times, and improved production efficiency.
