Esko has launched the XPS Spark 4835, a new flexo plate exposure unit, at Labelexpo in Barcelona. The system combines single-side UV LED exposure with an optional integrated UV finishing device, offering converters and trade shops a compact solution designed for precision and energy efficiency.
Eddy Fadel, Esko GM Flexo, said the development reflects the company’s focus on sustainability. “We are developing solutions and innovations that help our customers achieve their own sustainability objectives through reducing energy consumption and replacing bank exposures in the market,” he noted. Fadel added that external testing will begin later this year, with global release scheduled for the second half of 2026.
Pascal Thomas, Director of Flexo Product Management at Esko, highlighted the system’s accessibility. “With its compact footprint, intuitive operation and flexible exposure control, the XPS Spark is designed to make high-quality LED plate exposure accessible to a broader range of flexo users,” he said.
The XPS Spark incorporates features such as patented kaleidoscopic optics for even UVA light distribution, support for both Round Top and Flat Top dot plates, and an air-cooled LED system that simplifies installation and reduces maintenance. An optional UV finishing drawer is available to complete the plate exposure process in a single unit, eliminating the need for a separate device.
Thomas emphasized the benefits for space-constrained environments, noting that the system improves efficiency while lowering operating costs and eliminating tube waste associated with traditional bank exposure systems.
The XPS Spark 4835 is available for demonstration at Esko’s booth during Labelexpo, held from 16–19 September 2025 at the Fira Gran Via convention center in Barcelona.
