Greenliner has successfully launched Egypt’s largest containerboard machine, marking a milestone in the country’s industrial paper sector. The PM 1 machine, located at the company’s 10th of Ramadan City facility, began production in November 2025 and is now operational with the most advanced papermaking technologies in the country.

Spanning a 5.15-meter deckle and producing containerboard from 80 gsm upwards, PM 1 is designed for high strength, speed, and converting performance. It represents a significant step forward in domestic capacity and quality, easing Egypt’s reliance on imported grades.

Supplied by Valmet and Voith—two global leaders in papermaking technology—the new machine integrates cutting-edge systems to ensure both efficiency and high-quality output. Greenliner’s CEO, M.F. Ashour, described the launch as “a turning point for Egypt’s paper industry,” adding that PM 1 “brings production standards in line with international benchmarks and closes key supply gaps for local converters.”

The machine’s startup comes amid rising demand in Egypt’s corrugated packaging sector, driven by FMCG growth and e-commerce. With its new capacity, Greenliner is positioned to meet growing domestic needs and expand exports, reinforcing its role as a key regional player in containerboard production.
