Henkel Showcases Sustainable Adhesive Solutions at FACHPACK 2025

Henkel Showcases Sustainable Adhesive Solutions at FACHPACK 2025.

From September 23 to 25, FACHPACK 2025 will convene packaging professionals in Nuremberg under the theme “Transition in Packaging,” spotlighting sustainability, circular economy and evolving regulations affecting the sector. Henkel Adhesive Technologies will exhibit a suite of resource-efficient solutions for end-of-line packaging and fiber-based pack optimization at Hall 1, Booth 153.

Henkel’s resource-efficient offerings include adhesives designed to reduce energy consumption and material waste in sealing, case and carton applications. These solutions are tailored to enhance throughput while minimizing environmental impact. The fiber-based packaging adhesives on display aim to facilitate the shift to a circular economy by improving recyclability and substrate compatibility.

A focal point of Henkel’s showcase is a reformulated hot-melt adhesive launching in September, featuring a significantly reduced carbon footprint. The proprietary composition and bonding performance match existing grades, yet deliver measurable gains in climate performance, enabling packaging manufacturers to meet stringent sustainability targets without altering production parameters or performance benchmarks.

In response to the forthcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Henkel emphasizes the urgency for early adaptation. While final details are expected by 2027, manufacturers who delay machinery upgrades risk investment setbacks and market entry delays. Henkel offers advisory services to guide customers through compliance planning and process integration.

To support regulatory preparedness, Henkel has established the ‘Packaging RecycLab’ at its Inspiration Center in Düsseldorf. This modular testing environment replicates real-world recycling conditions for fiber-based packaging, allowing developers to evaluate mechanical and chemical compatibilities. The RecycLab’s results inform design decisions, ensuring new concepts meet future legal requirements and expedite time to market through early-stage validation.

“Our goal is to actively shape the transformation of the packaging industry – with expertise, experience and innovative strength to meet our customers’ challenges,” says Felicia Forster, Market Strategy Manager Packaging & Labeling EIMEA at Henkel. “It’s no longer just about the right adhesive – a holistic view of packaging, processes, machinery and sustainability matters.”
