Huhtamaki Egypt has received the Golden License from the Egyptian Cabinet to establish a molded fiber packaging plant in Sadat City, Monufia Governorate. The facility, set to open in August 2026, will be developed with a total investment of EGP 1.47 billion.
The plant will cover 22,000 square meters and will produce molded fiber packaging products such as egg cartons, fruit trays, and cup carriers using recycled paper fibers. The site is located in the CPC Industrial Zone and is expected to generate over 61 direct jobs. The products will serve both domestic and export markets.
This initiative is part of a longstanding partnership between Finland-based Huhtamaki Oyj and Eng. Ayman Korra, CEO of Korra for Energy & Investment Projects. The collaboration aims to localize advanced packaging technologies in Egypt and enhance the country’s industrial capabilities.
Eng. Ayman Korra stated: “We are proud of our enduring partnership with Huhtamaki that spans for more than two decades. Together, we have developed cutting-edge industrial ventures that add tangible value to Egypt’s economy. The awarding of the Golden License to this new Huhtamaki project reflects the state’s strong support for committed investors and affirms Korra’s successful strategy of attracting global investments and localizing advanced technologies in the Egyptian market.”
The Golden License, introduced in 2017, is designed to accelerate projects of national importance by streamlining approval processes. Fewer than 50 projects have received the license from over 300 applicants, underscoring its exclusivity.
The new facility positions Huhtamaki as a regional leader in sustainable packaging and strengthens Egypt’s role in global supply chains focused on environmentally responsible manufacturing.
