Hybrid Software releases PACKZ 11.5 with new tools for halftone screening and 3D packaging workflows

Evaluate screen frequency and angles directly from PACKZ Max RIP preview and any 1-bit TIFF file.

Hybrid Software has announced the release of PACKZ 11.5, the latest version of its PDF editor for label and packaging prepress. The update brings a set of technical improvements developed through direct engagement with users, aiming to streamline workflows and enhance quality control across digital and conventional production.

Key among the new features is the Halftone Detection Tool, now part of the PACKZ Max extension. Built on integrated Harlequin RIP technology, the tool enables detailed analysis of screening parameters directly within PACKZ. It evaluates screen frequency and angles from PACKZ Max RIP output previews and 1-bit TIFF files, offering insights into dot gain compensation, dot size ranges, and plate linearization. These capabilities are designed to support consistent, high-quality output in demanding print environments.

Also new in this release is extended support for CF2 3D variants. Developed in collaboration with Arden Software, Engview, and TreeDiM, the update allows different folding configurations to be embedded in a single CF2 file. These variants can be instantly visualized using Hybrid Software’s iC3D ray-tracing tool and are compatible with structural design systems supporting the extended format. The update enables faster prototyping and communication in packaging development.

Color rendering has also been upgraded. PACKZ now supports true-to-life spot color previews using spectral or colorimetric data via ColorLogic technology. Improvements are most visible in spot tints and spot-to-process blends, with consistent hue representation.

For digital printing, Packzimizer’s Laneplanner receives enhancements targeting roll-fed label production. New constraints on maximum roll length ensure compliance with press and finishing limits, while support for exact customer label quantities reduces overproduction.

PACKZ 11.5 is now available globally. The release underscores Hybrid Software’s focus on prepress accuracy, workflow flexibility, and user-driven development within the label and packaging sectors.
