KHS Group, a supplier of packaging and filling systems, has announced new climate action targets following the validation of its sustainability roadmap by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The development includes measurable emission reductions across its value chain, with a long-term aim of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

The company, part of Salzgitter AG, has committed to a 36% reduction in direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 2028, along with a 20% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.
KHS has made infrastructure upgrades at its facilities in Germany, including switching to renewable energy, modern lighting systems, and fleet electrification. The group also mentioned ongoing international investments in solar energy, which may include future installations in the MEA region.
The company’s packaging-related equipment, including its InnoPET Blomax stretch blow molders and lightweight PET design service (Bottles & Shapes™), are noted as contributing to reduced energy and material use for customers globally.
While no specific MEA-based initiatives were disclosed, KHS’s large customer base across the Middle East and Africa positions the region as a potential beneficiary of the group’s decarbonization efforts.
