LasX Industries and Procter & Gamble have launched LaserSharp® Marking technology on the caps of Tide® Ultra OXI Boost laundry detergent, marking the culmination of a four-year collaboration aimed at improving functionality, communication, and sustainability in packaging.
The laser-marked caps, now available on store shelves, replace traditional injection-molded dosing bars with digitally configured laser graphics. This shift enhances dosing clarity for consumers and creates additional space for dynamic marketing messages directly on the product.
“LaserSharp® Marking delivers high-resolution, production-speed laser marking across large areas, making it easy to create bold, customized graphics with minimal setup and effortless changeover,” said Tom Weigman, Vice President of Technology at LasX.
Initially unveiled in 2024, the joint technology is now being deployed in 24/7 production on a fully automated line, highlighting both strong market demand and system reliability. By applying laser markings directly onto polypropylene caps, the solution maintains a mono-material design that aligns with sustainability objectives and reduces the overall environmental footprint.
Key advantages of LaserSharp® Marking include permanent, high-resolution surface markings that enhance legibility and visual impact, as well as digital configurability that enables rapid adaptation to changing text and graphics requirements. The technology also ensures consistent results at high production speeds and allows for flexible design integration, even in challenging areas of the packaging.
The introduction of LaserSharp® Marking on Tide Ultra OXI Boost caps underscores a growing industry focus on integrating advanced digital technologies into packaging to improve user experience, enhance brand communication, and support sustainability goals without compromising production efficiency.
