Miraclon has installed a FLEXCEL NX Ultra 42 Solution at the Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) Technology Center in Lengerich, Germany, reinforcing a long-standing partnership between the two companies. The system replaces the previous FLEXCEL NX Ultra 35 Solution and offers a larger format water-processed platemaking setup for live demonstrations.
The installation aims to support W&H in showcasing more customer-relevant applications and various press configurations in a controlled, production-like environment. According to Frederik Petzold, Director of Technical Sales at W&H, “Our Technology Center plays a key role in showing converters how individual technologies come together to form an efficient and industrially scalable printing solution. In close partnership with Miraclon, we integrate leading platemaking technology into our press demonstrations to set the benchmark for end-to-end flexographic system performance.”
Petzold added that the new system enhances W&H’s ability to demonstrate wide web printing capabilities with consistent multi-form plate surface patterning and stable ink transfer. This, he said, helps simulate optimal press conditions, including wider process windows, quicker press stabilization, and consistent print quality.
Miraclon’s Chief Commercial Officer, Grant Blewett, emphasized the real-world performance advantages of the system. “The FLEXCEL NX Ultra Solution achieves the same proven on-press performance of the FLEXCEL NX System, with the added benefits of solvent-free and VOC-free platemaking,” he said.
To further enhance demonstration capabilities, W&H has also installed a FlexPose 420 ECDLF exposure unit from Glunz & Jensen, fitted with a Shine LED Lamp Kit developed by Miraclon. The LED kit delivers stable UV output and consistent plate exposure, while eliminating issues linked to aging mercury lamps and reducing energy use.
