Mondelēz International has appointed Hisham Ezz El‑Arab as President of its Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) business unit. The appointment places him in charge of directing the strategic direction of the company’s operations across the region.
Mondelēz International operates a portfolio of global snack brands including Cadbury, OREO, Bournvita and Halls. In his new role, Ezz El-Arab will oversee the development and expansion of this portfolio in the Sub-Saharan African market.
Ezz El-Arab joins the company with more than three decades of leadership experience in the fast-moving consumer goods sector. Prior to this appointment, he served as Regional Vice President for Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) at Danone, where he was responsible for business acceleration and strategic growth across a region extending from Morocco to the Philippines and from Russia to South Africa.
Over the course of his career, he has held leadership roles across multiple international markets including France, Turkey, Egypt, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries. Earlier in his career, he also worked with Procter & Gamble, gaining extensive experience in managing large consumer brands and complex business operations.
“I believe our strong brands across our multiple categories are well-positioned for a multi-year growth trajectory, based on their unique positioning, irresistible taste, entrenched distribution channels and the remarkable talent we have in SSA,” Ezz El-Arab said.
