Mondi has launched Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible, a kraft paper developed to offer a balance of strength, extensibility, puncture resistance, and a smooth surface suitable for high-quality printing and coating.
Positioned between traditional sack kraft and machine-finished kraft grades, the new product is aimed at both industrial and consumer packaging markets. It has been specifically developed to serve as a high-performance base paper for coated and heat-sealable packaging solutions.
According to Mondi, the calendered surface of the paper enhances coating coverage and adhesion, while its smooth texture improves printability compared to more textured natural brown papers. The substrate has been in development for three years and is designed to offer a combination of mechanical strength and print performance.
The paper is suitable for form-fill-and-seal (FFS) applications involving sharp-edged or heavy goods, such as toys, dry food, spare parts, and construction materials. It is made from responsibly sourced fresh fibres, with PEFC or FSC® chain-of-custody certification optionally available. Its recyclability has been verified under the CEPI 4EG protocol, aligning with EU paper recycling standards.
Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible is compatible with existing converting and filling lines, supporting operational efficiency while expanding application possibilities for converters seeking recyclable paper-based materials.
“This paper is the result of a close collaboration between our technical sales service, R&D and product development – a strong team effort that reflects our commitment to solving our customers’ technical and sustainability challenges,” said Sabrina Klösch, Technical Sales Service at Mondi.
The company states that the product fills a market gap by combining runnability, strength, and coating-friendly properties in one substrate.
