Mondi has introduced the recycle PaperPlus Bag Advanced, a high-performance paper bag aimed at providing moisture protection for humidity-sensitive goods, while significantly reducing plastic content. Developed in partnership with flooring systems producer UZIN, the new packaging solution runs on existing filling and sealing equipment and is intended for use in the building and construction sector.
The PaperPlus Bag Advanced incorporates a 20 µm barrier film, offering moisture protection comparable to traditional 50 µm plastic films while using up to 60% less plastic. Mondi reports that this contributes to a lower carbon footprint, based on results from its internal lifecycle-based Product Impact Assessment (PIA) tool.
In terms of sustainability, the bag has been tested and confirmed as recyclable according to CEPI and 4Evergreen protocols. Its design supports the secure packaging of powdery and fast-drying flooring materials, making it suitable for demanding environmental conditions.
The product was recognised with a Bronze Award at the 2025 EUROSAC Grand Prix, which celebrates innovation in the paper sack industry.
“PaperPlus Bag Advanced is a future-ready alternative for customers seeking to reduce plastic and meet performance demands without compromising on efficiency,” said Max Melzer, Head of External Sales Industrial Bags at Mondi.
The launch forms part of Mondi’s broader re/cycle portfolio and aligns with the company’s MAP2030 sustainability goals, which aim to deliver packaging solutions that contribute to the circular economy.
