Nutridor Expands ‘Abevia’ Dairy Brand with AED 75 Million Factory in Dubai

 

 

 

 

Nutridor, a prominent player in the food and beverage (F&B) industry and a subsidiary of the TGI Group, has introduced a cutting-edge dairy production facility in the United Arab Emirates, situated at Dubai Industrial City within the TECOM Group PJSC. The inauguration of this state-of-the-art factory, representing an investment of AED 75 million, is poised to meet the increasing demand for Nutridor’s high-quality dairy products under the ‘Abevia’ brand. Spanning a substantial 100,000 square feet, this facility was constructed in under a year and incorporates the latest advancements in dairy manufacturing technology, ensuring the continued delivery of top-tier products by Abevia to its consumers. The launch of commercial operations at this facility will effectively double Abevia’s production capacity, enabling it to churn out 120,000 liters of milk daily.

 

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including His Excellency Mohammed Mousa Alameeri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Food Diversity Sector at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE; His Excellency Helal Al Marri, Director-General of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (Dubai DET); His Excellency Eng. Dawood Abdulrahman Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality; and His Excellency Mohammed Dansanta Rimi, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Embassy of Nigeria in UAE.

 

 

 

 

Additionally, key figures such as Mohammed Al Kamali, COO of Manufacturing & Export Development at Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC); Abdulla Belhoul, CEO of TECOM Group PJSC; Saud Abu Alshawareb, Executive Vice President of Industrial at TECOM Group PJSC; Abdelrahman Al Hosani, Director of Export Service at Dubai DET; Saleh Lootah, Chairman of UAE Food & Beverage Manufacturers (FBMG); and Sankha Biswas, CEO of Nutridor, graced the event.

Commenting on the inauguration, Mohammed Al Kamali, COO of Manufacturing & Export Development at DEDC, highlighted the significance of Nutridor’s new facility, emphasizing its role in Dubai’s economic diversification in alignment with the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33. He noted that this state-of-the-art dairy production facility represents a substantial initiative and investment, fostering an entrepreneurial environment that thrives on innovation and fuels economic expansion.

 

The facility will significantly contribute to Nutridor’s objective of reducing import reliance and enhancing its standing in the regional F&B sector, with anticipated revenues of AED 110 million from the factory’s operations.

Saud Abu Alshawareb, Executive Vice President of Industrial at TECOM Group PJSC, affirmed the critical importance of localizing manufacturing activities in the F&B sector to promote food security, economic growth, and positive environmental impact at a global scale. He stressed that Nutridor’s factory at Dubai Industrial City is strategically positioned to support these objectives and align with the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051. It also underscores Dubai Industrial City’s commitment to government strategies that aim to elevate the manufacturing sector’s GDP contribution, such as Operation 300bn, Make it in the Emirates, and Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33.’

 

 

Nutridor, with an extensive network of operations in the Middle East and Africa, serves customers in over 15 countries. The new Abevia factory in Dubai Industrial City is expected to create more than 200 new direct and indirect job opportunities, contributing to the nurturing of Emirati talent and supporting D33’s overarching objectives of economic expansion and diversification.

Sankha Biswas, CEO of Nutridor, expressed his enthusiasm for the new facility, stating that it represents a pivotal juncture for Nutridor and Abevia, enabling local manufacturing to meet the burgeoning demand for high-quality dairy products in the region. He emphasized the commitment to food security goals in the UAE and the growing demand for high-quality food products in the country.

 

In line with the UAE Net-Zero 2050 strategy, the facility has been designed to ensure zero waste and will use solar power to meet a substantial portion of its energy requirements, equivalent to 100,000 kilowatt-hours. Its strategic location within Dubai Industrial City provides access to new markets, and the move is set to save 8,144 tonnes of carbon emissions, which is comparable to removing 1,759 cars from the roads or planting 135,735 trees over a decade.

Abevia has been recognized with ‘Superbrands’ status in the UAE in 2022 and 2023, underlining its commitment to excellence in quality. Furthermore, Nutridor recently received the coveted Food Safety System Certification FSSC 22000, aligning itself with the highest international standards in the industry.
