ProAmpac launches recyclable packaging for chunk cheese applications

New cheese wrapper aligns with green goals and operational demands.

ProAmpac has announced the commercial launch of a new recycle-ready packaging platform developed for chunk cheese applications. The polyolefin-based film is designed for high-speed production environments, offering a recyclable alternative for dairy manufacturers.

The newly launched films are part of ProAmpac’s ProActive Recycle-Ready platform and are intended to meet the operational demands of chunk cheese production. The material provides puncture resistance, maintains clarity for shelf display, and can endure high temperatures encountered during fast-paced filling processes.

A notable feature is its sealing technology, which allows sealing at low initiation temperatures while maintaining integrity under high-speed conditions. This minimizes the risk of leaks on production lines and supports consistent performance during distribution.

“These specialized films deliver outstanding abrasion resistance and have successfully passed rigorous transportation testing, ensuring dependable product protection from production through distribution,” said Ebrahim Jalali Dil, global senior innovation at ProAmpac.

The packaging includes barrier options designed for varying cheese formats and moisture levels, allowing manufacturers flexibility in product handling and shelf-life management. It is also compatible with polyethylene recycling streams and has the potential to integrate post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.

This development addresses growing industry requirements for sustainable packaging without sacrificing performance. As brands respond to environmental regulations and consumer demand, solutions like ProAmpac’s aim to bridge recyclability with efficiency in food processing environments.

With its entry into the commercial market, the recyclable film is positioned to serve dairy producers looking for alternatives that align with both sustainability goals and high-speed production demands.
