Duesseldorf, October 12, 2025 — The Reifenhäuser Group has received the prestigious German Design Award for its new human-machine interface (HMI), unveiled at K 2025 in Duesseldorf. The new system introduces a uniform design language across the company’s blown film, flat film, and nonwoven production lines, with a focus on simplicity and usability.
In response to the growing global shortage of skilled workers, Reifenhäuser has completely re-engineered its HMI to offer a more intuitive and visually streamlined user experience. The new interface consolidates the complex and varied requirements of extrusion machinery into a flexible, scalable system. It will be showcased on the company’s EVO GEN3 and EVEREX blown film and flat film lines during the K trade fair.
The system allows operators to access all settings with a maximum of two clicks, supported by customizable dashboards and a clearly structured start-up page. An intelligent color scheme and responsive touch interface further enhance ease of use and speed of operation. Developed in collaboration with HMI Project, the design was guided by real-world usage scenarios and validated through extensive usability testing.
The result is a modular, scalable interface that balances technical complexity with user-friendly operation. Assistance tools, visual hierarchies, and clear illustrations help operators set up, monitor, and optimize sensitive production processes more effectively.
Since 2012, the German Design Award has recognized outstanding achievements in product design, communication, and architecture, highlighting innovations that set new standards. Reifenhäuser’s recognition underscores the company’s focus on user-centric design and operational efficiency in extrusion technology.
