Lebanon-based converter RotoFlexoPress (RFP) has reported significant productivity and sustainability gains following the installation of a BOBST NOVALAM S 550 laminator. Established in 1970, RFP supplies flexible packaging across Europe, Africa, and the GCC, with products including bags, pouches, sleeves, and roll stock.

The machine, capable of handling thin aluminum foil, metallized film, and stretchable substrates, was installed in a rapid plug-and-play process. According to the company, results were immediate.

“Since installing the NOVALAM S 550, we’ve increased lamination output by 30%, while downtime has dropped by 35%, saving 10 man-hours per week,” said Managing Partner George Habib. “The improved efficiency has helped us to boost sales by 12% and attract three new international clients.”

The solventless technology has also reduced environmental impact. “We have seen waste reduce by 20% and energy use reduce by 15%, helping us to reduce both costs and environmental impact,” said Managing Partner Joseph Habib.

RFP’s sustainability drive is shaped by Lebanon’s unreliable electricity grid, which forces heavy reliance on diesel generators. To address this, the company is expanding its solar capacity to 1,310 panels and installing 160 lithium batteries to secure greater energy independence.

BOBST’s involvement with RFP dates back to 2012 with the purchase of a FP-15S flexographic press. “Partnering with BOBST also aligned us with global standards and laid the groundwork for a long-term collaboration in technical support, operator training, and continuous innovation,” said Managing Partner Bassam Habib.

BOBST representatives highlighted the partnership’s importance. “Partnering with this important Lebanese company feels like more than just business, it’s a meaningful step forward for both sides,” said Khaled Joundi, Business Director, Middle East and Turkey.

RFP plans to continue expanding into sustainable and customized packaging solutions, targeting emerging brands and startups.
