Rotzinger introduces modular VarioFill platform for flexible OTC product filling and capping

VarioFill supports diverse container types and closure systems on a single platform.

Rotzinger PharmaPack has unveiled VarioFill, a modular filling and capping platform aimed at manufacturers and contract fillers of over-the-counter (OTC) products, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, personal care, and nutraceuticals.

The platform is designed to accommodate a wide range of solid and liquid products. It supports various packaging materials, container shapes, and closure types, enabling users to consolidate production processes on a single machine. “Where manufacturers and contract fillers previously needed new machines for different products and closures, VarioFill now enables them to process everything on a single platform,” said Michael Gensheimer, Product Manager at Rotzinger PharmaPack.

VarioFill’s modular architecture and automation reduce its footprint by more than 50% compared to traditional lines. Modules can be swapped based on production needs, allowing for quick reconfiguration without major investment. “All you need to do is reconfigure the platform with the appropriate modules, and the line is ready for new requirements at low investment costs,” Gensheimer added.

The system incorporates gentle container handling through magnetically driven grippers and avoids the need for guiding parts such as pucks. It features 100% in-process control (IPC) before and after filling, with filling carried out using rotary piston pumps or counters, depending on product type. Closure types include snap-on, screw, pump, and crimp, applied through configurable stations. A fully automated cleaning-in-place (CIP) process manages hygiene for product-contact parts.

Two lines have already been sold prior to the official launch. “The response from the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and nutraceutical industries has been overwhelming,” said Gensheimer.

Rotzinger aims to position VarioFill as a scalable and flexible solution tailored to varied production environments across multiple sectors.
