Saudi German Nonwovens (SGN) has officially inaugurated its expanded manufacturing facility in Rabigh, located in the Western Province of Saudi Arabia. The event marked the commissioning of Line No. 5, equipped with the latest Reicofil 5 technology, further enhancing SGN’s production capabilities and innovation capacity in the nonwovens sector.

The grand opening, held on May 15, 2025, was attended by senior government officials, representatives from financial institutions, and key industry stakeholders, including raw material suppliers, equipment partners, and global clients.

SGN originally announced the expansion in 2023 as part of its strategic commitment to reinforce its status as a premium global supplier of nonwoven materials. The new R5 Spunmelt line is expected to increase SGN’s capacity to deliver high-performance, sustainable nonwovens across multiple markets including baby care, adult incontinence, feminine hygiene, medical, agriculture, and industrial applications.

The expansion also coincides with the launch of SGN’s new brand, Sofina, developed to meet the growing demand for advanced and high-quality nonwoven products. Powered by Reicofil 5 technology and proprietary in-house innovations, Sofina is segmented into three product tiers:

  • Sofina Essence: Targeting the premium market, this tier offers superior softness and consistent quality.

  • Sofina: Designed for the luxury segment, it focuses on enhanced tactile features, softness, and bulk.

  • Sofina Royale: Positioned as the ultra-premium line, delivering maximum softness and performance for discerning customers.

Sofina will initially focus on the North American and European markets, where SGN aims to leverage its existing distribution network to ensure broad accessibility.

According to SGN, the investment represents a major step forward in expanding its product portfolio while reinforcing its global presence. The company views the Rabigh expansion as a key milestone in its long-term strategy to deliver technologically advanced and sustainable solutions to the nonwovens industry.
