Barcelona – Screen will present its new Truepress LABEL 520AQ project at Labelexpo 2025, marking its first exploration of water-based digital inkjet technology for the label printing sector.
The Truepress LABEL 520AQ is a proof-of-concept press designed to test how converters can integrate water-based inkjet into production to improve efficiency and explore new market opportunities. Built on Screen’s existing expertise in inkjet development, the press will demonstrate the potential of this technology for high-speed, high-quality label applications.
“With the Truepress LABEL 520AQ, we’re working to discover how converters can expand their throughput of their existing printing jobs while entering new markets, and how this well-established technology can also help them to meet the increasing demand for sustainable, high-quality labels,” said Carlo Sammarco, Business Development Director Packaging Solutions at Screen Europe.
The press features a 520mm media width (508mm printable width) and print speeds of 100 metres per minute. It delivers 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution with Screen’s raster image processing and workflow management system, EQUIOS, supporting accurate registration at full production speeds. The press uses Truepress SC+ inks, offering wide colour gamut reproduction with low odour.
The company sees opportunities in sectors such as pharmaceutical, agri-chemical, and wet-glue labels. With capabilities for larger label formats and variable data printing—including QR codes and barcodes—the system aims to support both compliance and promotional requirements.
Screen will run live demonstrations of the Truepress LABEL 520AQ at Labelexpo 2025, where visitors can see its performance on various substrates and discuss applications with the company.
