Sidel opens Lagos office to support packaging growth and local expertise in West Africa

Sidel’s new Lagos hub will support project delivery, after-sales services, and customer engagement across West Africa.

Sidel has opened a new regional office in Phoenix, Ikeja (Lagos), expanding its footprint in West Africa to support its customers more closely in Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and surrounding markets. The facility will act as a base for project management, engineering, and after-sales services.

The Lagos site becomes Sidel’s third location on the African continent, joining offices in South Africa and Kenya. The move aligns with the company’s wider efforts to strengthen customer proximity and develop local skills across key African markets.

“West Africa is the most dynamic and promising consumer market in Africa,” said Clive Smith, Executive Vice President, Africa, Oceania & Asia, Sidel. “Establishing a significant organization in Lagos allows us to understand customer needs more deeply, respond faster, and offer bespoke solutions across PET, can, and glass for West African consumers.”

Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, is home to over 230 million people and is projected to see a compound annual growth rate of 6% in its USD 54.1 billion food and beverage market through 2033. As consumer preferences shift toward healthier beverages and more sustainable packaging formats, demand for lightweight PET, recyclable glass, and aluminium cans continues to grow.

In the region, Sidel has previously worked with partners including StrongPack in Nigeria and Twellium Industrial in Ghana, delivering high-speed PET packaging lines and labelling systems. It also installed Africa’s first Sidel Matrix™ system in South Africa for Coca-Cola SABCO.

Pietro Cassani, President and CEO of Sidel, added, “We are investing for proximity and long-term growth in Nigeria and West Africa.”

The new Lagos office will also aim to grow local engineering capabilities and foster job creation through collaboration and knowledge development.
