Siegwerk Druckfarben AG & Co. KGaA has signed an agreement to acquire Allinova, a specialty chemicals company based in Hengelo, the Netherlands, known for its expertise in water-based dispersions. The deal, announced on August 11, 2025, aims to strengthen Siegwerk’s coatings business, particularly in functional coatings for packaging.
Allinova’s product range includes polymer dispersions, wax emulsions, adhesives, flame retardants, repellents, and other specialty chemicals. Founded in 2005 by Gijs Elfrink, the company initially focused on flame retardants and wax emulsions, later expanding into dispersions and other specialty products. Co-owner Bob Horsthuis joined in 2016, contributing to the company’s growth and portfolio expansion.
“Allinova’s solutions fit perfectly into our product portfolio and accelerate our mission to provide innovative and sustainable coating solutions for the global packaging market,” said Gilles Le Moigne, Business Head of Circular Economy Coatings (CEC) at Siegwerk.
Siegwerk plans to integrate Allinova’s technologies and technical expertise with its global operations. “We are delighted to have found a great partner and new shareholder for Allinova. Siegwerk will integrate our expertise into a significantly larger organization, thus advancing our products in the global market,” said Elfrink. Both Elfrink and Horsthuis will remain with the company after the acquisition.
The acquisition follows Siegwerk’s establishment of its global functional coatings business unit in April 2024, aimed at advancing sustainable packaging solutions. “By acquiring Allinova, Siegwerk is doubling down on our global expertise in functional coatings and strengthening our position to serve our customers even better,” said Siegwerk CEO Nicolas Wiedmann.
This move builds on prior strategic acquisitions, including Italy’s La Sorgente in 2022. Financial terms of the Allinova deal have not been disclosed.
