Siegwerk has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal for its sustainability performance, just weeks after announcing a Silver rating. With an overall score of 78 out of 100, the Germany-based printing ink and coatings supplier is now ranked in the 96th percentile of all companies evaluated globally by EcoVadis.
The Gold rating reflects improvements across all four assessment categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
In the environmental category, Siegwerk scored 86 out of 100, supported by verified corporate and product carbon footprints, ISO certifications, and measures in pollution and waste control at site level.
Its labor and human rights score of 80 points was achieved through new policies, a company-wide living wage analysis, and a strengthened grievance mechanism. Ethical performance was rated at 66, driven by ongoing compliance initiatives and increased transparency.
In sustainable procurement, Siegwerk earned a score of 68, reflecting actions such as a revised supplier code of conduct, risk assessments, and engagement programs. These efforts form part of the company’s “SustainUP” program.
The EcoVadis assessment also recognized Siegwerk’s ISO 14001-certified sites and its reporting through the Carbon Disclosure Project, pointing to a mature sustainability management system.
The achievement marks a key milestone for Siegwerk, which set a goal in 2022 to reach the Gold rating by 2025. The company improved its score by 15 points since its last assessment in 2023.
“We are proud to see our continued efforts pay off so clearly – again,” said Alina Marm, Head of Global Sustainability & Circular Economy at Siegwerk. “This prestigious recognition energizes us to go even further.”
