Siegwerk has officially joined topac, a new alliance formed to bring together companies across the tobacco packaging value chain, including printers, converters, material suppliers, and technology providers. The goal: to improve collaboration, share technical insights, and respond to industry-specific challenges, especially in key markets such as the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
The alliance’s first summit was held in Surabaya, Indonesia, on May 14–15, 2025, and brought together major players from across the sector. Topics ranged from regulatory impacts to sustainable packaging innovations and operational efficiency in tobacco packaging lines. Siegwerk’s participation positions it as a key contributor in discussions around ink and coating technologies for packaging applications.
“It is an honor for the global Siegwerk tobacco community to be part of this alliance along with strong partners like Janoschka, Daetwyler SwissTec, Koehler Paper, Pujadas, Bobst, Marbach, and Focke,” said Dr. Daniel Drochner, Global Head of Technology BU Tobacco at Siegwerk. “Together, we can drive advancements in tobacco packaging and ensure a sustainable future for our industry.”
The MEA region is a critical growth area for tobacco packaging, with unique regulatory, economic, and operational requirements. Siegwerk’s membership in topac reflects a broader push to improve packaging performance, streamline supply chains, and align with sustainability goals—priorities that are increasingly relevant in this region.
By participating in topac, Siegwerk will contribute to regular industry updates, technical knowledge sharing, and the development of practical solutions for packaging professionals. The alliance’s format—rooted in peer-to-peer exchange—is expected to improve responsiveness to packaging trends and shifts in market demand.
