TVOP partners with Sidel to introduce laser blowing technology for edible oil bottles

TVOP and Sidel partners on advanced edible oil packaging and production technologies.

Thanakorn Vegetable Oil Products (TVOP) has partnered with Sidel to equip its new edible oil production facility with integrated processing and packaging technologies, becoming the first edible oil producer globally to apply laser-based blowing technology for bottle manufacturing. The implementation of EvoBLOW Laser marks the introduction of this technology in the edible oil packaging segment.

The project includes additional systems such as CoboREEL, EvoFilm Stretch, and the Evo-ON digital suite, alongside a monitoring interface connected to enterprise and logistics systems. According to Adul Premprasert, CEO, “Our EvoBLOW Laser investment aligns with the Thanakorn Vegetable Oil Products Company mission to promote sustainable production and consumption, with high quality, low carbon footprint products”.

The laser technology enables the production of a new one-litre edible oil bottle, developed with Sidel, with a two-gram weight reduction compared with existing designs while maintaining required strength, durability and shelf performance. The system also supports operational efficiency through cold-start capability and stable processing conditions.

Premprasert added, “This laser technology will help us improve performance, energy efficiency, production stability and material savings which are all critical for edible oil manufacturers”.

Additional equipment, including automated label reel handling and stretch film solutions, is expected to reduce energy consumption and support lower carbon operations. The Evo-ON platform provides data-driven monitoring to support line performance and process control.

TVOP’s collaboration with Sidel dates back to 1978 and has developed into a long-term partnership covering blowing, filling, automation and end-of-line systems. Premprasert said, “Sidel has been more than just a supplier. We work as long-term partners, hand in hand, lifting good things for the company, for our society and ultimately for our planet”. The new facility is intended to support production efficiency, material reduction and readiness for future recycled PET use in edible oil packaging operations across regional and export markets.
