Saima Packaging, Pakistan installs a BOBST RS 4003MP gravure press

Saima Packaging, a privately owned converter from Pakistan has recently installed a BOBST RS 4003MP at its flexible packaging production facility in Karachi, Pakistan. The eight color BOBST RS 4003MP features technical solutions for automation and reduced waste that enable it to be operated profitably with any mix of print job lengths, from short to long run production.

Mr Yousuf Tinwala, chief executive of Saima Packaging Pvt Ltd said, “Job make-ready and changeovers on our new press are quicker than we are accustomed to, which means that we are now able to produce with a much faster turnaround. The register performance is excellent and easy to achieve via a touch screen interface. Waste is minimized, even at the start of a new job, and the register holds very well at machine speed variations, the speed correction being extremely fast.”

The RS 4003MP is an electronic shaft gravure line fitted with a shaftless printing cylinder system. Its flexibility of configuration makes it suitable for addressing a wide range of applications. The BOBST Registron® register control system integrated with the electronic shaft system of the press has ability to reduce material waste to a minimum. To further improve performance at make-ready and changeover, Saima Packaging specified its RS 4003MP with the fully automatic TAPS pre-register setting system.

Mr Tinwala said, “We source the most technically advanced equipment for our operations, because we believe that machine quality is essential to achieving quality results. This has enabled us to build a reputation for manufacturing competitive, high-end packaging solutions: and our customers can trust us to always deliver on that.”

Although the RS 4003MP gravure press is the first BOBST printing machine for flexible packaging installed at Saima Packaging, the company operates BOBST die-cutters and folder-gluers at its carton packaging division.

“We offer our customers a wide range of technical expertise in the manufacturing of high quality rigid and flexible packaging. We value the advantages of choosing leading-edge equipment and of being able to count on competent, reliable and timely service support,” said Mr Tinwala.
