Al Ain Dairy, the UAE’s largest dairy producer and one of its leading juice producers, has launched packs for fresh chilled milk made from at least 60% renewable materials.

In a press release on 17 November, the dairy announced it is now distributing the new cartons in both 1-litre and 0.5-litre formats.

But the partnership with Tetra Pak is expected to deliver additional “innovative and convenient products”, said the firms.

While Tetra Top One Step Opening cartons are often used in Europe for fresh milk, they are debuting in this market in the Middle East, said Shashi Kumar Menon, COO at Al Ain Dairy.

“The four-layered carton is ideal for the region as it keeps milk fresh, offers protection from sunlight which can taint milk flavour, and is less susceptible to rapid changes in temperature,” he said.

“The new package also offers shoppers greater convenience as it has tamper evident one-step opening and closure and its shape makes it easier to store in the refrigerator, while the handy pack sizes help to reduce milk wastage.”

Al Ain Dairy claims to hold 27% of the UAE’s fresh milk market and aims to raise this share with its new packaging.

Milk consumption in the UAE is among the world’s lowest, at just 16 litres per person each year.
