ALPLA Strengthens UK Presence with iTEC Packaging Acquisition

With the takeover of iTEC Packaging (Mansfield), ALPLA is enhancing its offer as a system provider for sustainable bottles like the ultra-light “Eco-Bottle” and closures.

ALPLA Group, an internationally active packaging and recycling specialist, has demonstrated its commitment to the UK market through the acquisition of iTEC Packaging (Mansfield). The acquired plant specializes in producing closures primarily for the dairy industry, as well as the food and beverage sectors.

With the addition of iTEC Packaging (Mansfield), ALPLA expands its expertise as a packaging system provider in the UK market, offering quality and choice to its customers. Jens Seifried, UK Managing Director, highlights the significance of the acquisition, stating, “With our global know-how, with this acquisition, we can increasingly offer the UK dairy industry sustainable, efficient, and innovative packaging solutions.”

ALPLA’s focus on recycling expertise and commitment to sustainability is further reinforced by the acquisition. The company aims to promote the use of post-consumer recycled material (PCR) in the closure sector, providing comprehensive solutions with high recycling content. ALPLA has already made strides in processing recycled HDPE (rHDPE) with its “Eco-Bottle,” an ultra-light bottle that can contain up to 40% food-grade rHDPE. The company plans to continue developing such innovations to increase the inclusion of recycled materials in its packaging in the coming years.

The incorporation of the former iTEC Packaging plant in Mansfield not only expands ALPLA’s capacity and product range but also ensures job security for the existing staff, who will be retained in their entirety.

The contractual agreement for the acquisition was reached on May 26, 2023. The terms and conditions of the deal have not been disclosed by the involved parties.
