Amcor has introduced its Exclusive stick packaging as a simplified, hygienic, and refillable solution for French natural hair care brand Cut By Fred’s Detox Stick Shampoo. The innovation addresses consumer challenges with the brand’s previous refill system, which required melting the refill in a microwave, manually transferring it to the container, and then solidifying it in a refrigerator — a process that had negatively impacted refill sales.
The Exclusive stick streamlines the refill process by allowing it to be directly inserted into the original container with minimal contact, reducing the risk of product contamination. Its precision-engineered components also ensure ease of use and controlled application, eliminating the need for consumers to touch the product.
The packaging aligns with Cut By Fred’s sustainability goals. The original 75 ml container weighs 55 g, while each refill weighs just 18 g, significantly cutting material use. Both the stick and refill are made entirely from polypropylene, enabling recyclability where collection and recycling infrastructure is available.
“We want our products to be not only good for humans, but especially for the planet, and that extends to our choice of packaging,” said Marion Lhermitte of Cut By Fred. “It is equally important that our products and packaging deliver the best consumer experience. With the Exclusive, we have been able to achieve both objectives.”
Amcor’s Exclusive stick is available in sizes from 15 ml to 75 ml as part of its B Circular portfolio, designed to help brands transition to more sustainable packaging.
Founded in 2018 by Frédéric Birault, Cut By Fred focuses on clean, vegan hair care products with at least 97% natural-origin ingredients and fully natural fragrances, alongside packaging that reflects its environmental commitments.
