Baumer hhs Introduces Eco-Friendly Solution for Pallet Load Security

Baumer hhs has introduced a solution aimed at reducing plastic film usage for securing pallet and transport loads, aligning with industry initiatives to cut packaging waste and resource consumption.

The application system, before palletizing, uses an anti-slip hot melt adhesive sprayed onto boxes. A small amount secures interlocked stacked boxes on all pallet layers, preventing movement during transport. This approach reduces the need for traditional pallet wrap, lowering waste volumes, cutting costs, and simplifying logistics.

The innovation streamlines depalletizing work and eliminates the need for intermediate pallet layers like paper slip sheets. This reduction in plastic wrap usage and waste enhances resource efficiency and addresses typical depalletizing risks while promoting a cleaner working environment.

The sprayed boxes, with minimal non-slip adhesive, can be discarded in the existing paper recycling system, contrasting with less recyclable polyethylene films (PE-LD and PE-HD) commonly used for securing pallet and transport loads.

Martin Kotecki, Packaging Business Development Manager at Baumer hhs, notes, “This resource-saving innovation for securing pallet and transport loads has elicited an overwhelming response across the market. After observing the first few systems in operation at leading companies in various industries to verify the significant advantages, we are now shipping the solution worldwide.”

Introduced in June 2023 at the interpack trade show, the system can be flexibly integrated into conveyors between the end packing and palletizing of transport and shipping boxes. The scalable solution includes an HM-500 hot melt spray application, a sensor for box detection, an Xmelt melter, and an Xact controller. The system’s versatility allows it to apply various pressure-sensitive adhesives on the market.

Baumer hhs emphasizes its commitment to redefining industrial gluing for over 35 years, seeing this innovative solution as another step forward in the packaging market, providing tangible benefits to customers.
