BOBST hosted the second edition of its Experience Day series in Istanbul, Turkey, focusing on developments in flexible packaging production. The event brought together flexible packaging converters from across Turkey and provided demonstrations of printing, laminating and coating technologies used in packaging manufacturing.
A key feature of the event was a live demonstration of the NOVALAM S550 solventless laminator at BOBST’s Istanbul facility. The machine, designed for processing a range of substrates including thin aluminium foil, metallized film and stretchable materials, was demonstrated running a solventless lamination application using ALU (8µm) and PET (12µm reverse print) structures.
Participants also joined a live virtual session from the BOBST Technology Center in San Giorgio, Italy. During the session, attendees were introduced to the Leonardo platform, a pilot coating line used for testing and developing coating technologies. The virtual visit also included a demonstration of the MASTER 6003 gravure printing press, which is designed to process different substrates, ink systems and production runs.
Additional presentations were delivered through a live connection with BOBST’s Bielefeld site in Germany. These sessions covered central impression flexographic printing technologies, robotics integration and digital workflow developments. Attendees also participated in discussions with BOBST technology sales specialists.
Commenting on the event, Khaled Joundi, Regional Business Director, BOBST Middle East, said: “It was an honor to host so many of Turkey’s leading converters at our second BOBST Experience Day. Face-to-face engagement remains unparalleled, both for discussing the individual requirements and specific circumstances of each converter and for providing the opportunity to experience the technology firsthand.”
The Experience Day programme forms part of BOBST’s initiative to engage directly with packaging converters and manufacturers. The Istanbul event followed the first Experience Day, which focused on folding carton production and was held in March. Additional events covering folding carton, flexible packaging, corrugated board and label production are planned as part of the ongoing series.
