Borouge launches new infrastructure and advanced packaging solutions to boost UAE exports

Borouge has unveiled its first-ever Bulk Continuous Filament (BCF) product, designed for fibre and carpet applications.

Borouge has introduced five new solutions aimed at boosting the competitiveness of the UAE’s exports, according to statements made by Khalfan Mohamed AlMuhairi, Senior Vice President, Region Middle East and Exports of Borouge. One of these solutions targets the infrastructure industry, while the remaining four are designed for advanced packaging industries to meet growing demand in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM), AlMuhairi explained that this move aligns with Borouge’s growth and innovation strategy, focusing on expanding its market share in the infrastructure pipe sector, valued at nearly $1 billion in the company’s core territories.

To address consumer demand, Borouge has unveiled its first-ever Bulk Continuous Filament (BCF) product, designed for fibre and carpet applications. This product aims to capture a market valued at $100 million in the Middle East and North Africa region, providing a significant opportunity for Borouge to increase its market share.

AlMuhairi discussed the factors driving increased demand, citing the growing popularity of Borouge’s premium polyolefin solutions in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. The company plans to leverage trends such as urbanization resulting from population growth in core markets.

“Our latest solutions are designed to not only meet the needs of modern communities but also contribute to more sustainable production processes for our customers – increasing the energy efficiency of the manufacturing process and reducing its carbon footprint. Borouge is committed to commercial excellence driven by innovation, and we look forward to continuing to pursue new areas of growth,” he stated.

Regarding the infrastructure solution, AlMuhairi highlighted that Borouge developed its innovative solutions in infrastructure using advanced Borealis Borstar® nucleation technology. The latest infrastructure solution is tailored for water piping applications, delivering hot and cold water globally. It boasts unmatched, long-term pressure performance, even at very high temperatures, and is fully recyclable at the end of its 50-year lifespan.

In alignment with the “Make it in the Emirates” initiative and the national “In-Country Value programme,” Borouge launched its BCF product, a versatile polypropylene (PP) material, to meet the growing needs of carpet manufacturers in the UAE. This move aims to enhance the company’s contribution to the national In-Country Value Programme while bolstering the competitiveness of ‘Made In UAE’ solutions.
