Danone’s positive efforts earn B Corp certification

By Ben Daniel:  Danone Egypt is the first company in Egypt to achieve B Corp Certification. This covers all its activities from essential dairy products (Danone yogurt, Danette, Activia, Dango and DanUp) to early life nutrition (Bebelac and Aptamil). It recognises how the company acts beyond profit and put purpose at the heart of its business strategy.

Danone aspires to nourish a healthier and happier Egypt by making a positive contribution with services and access to health-related products.

Henri de l’Epine, Managing Director for Danone North East Africa, said: “We are very proud of this B Corp certification. It is a recognition of the daily attention paid by our 1,545 Danone employees to drive positive social and environmental impact.”

B Corp Certification is a mark of trust: a promise that a company is doing business in a way that meets rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, and is certified by B Lab, a third-party non-profit.

Nathan Gilbert, Executive Director of B Lab Europe, said: “We are very excited that more multinational subsidiaries, like Danone Egypt, have undertaken this significant effort to become certified. We hope it will inspire other companies and multinationals operating in Egypt and the region to follow, accelerating this global culture shift to define success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.”

Certified B Corporations are accelerating a global culture shift to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
