Deliveroo UAE launches web store in partnership with Sineo Packaging

The partnership is in line with UAE’s Net Zero 2050 vision

Deliveroo has announced the launch of a web store in partnership with environment-friendly packaging company, Sineo Packaging. The partnership falls under Deliveroo’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, and is a result of the company’s commitment to making sustainability a long-term business priority. Through Deliveroo’s web store, restaurants can now purchase sustainable, and customised packaging at cost-effective prices, further incentivising them to become more environmentally conscious in their day-to-day operations. The programme is also in line with UAE’s Net Zero 2050 vision and has been announced ahead of the country’s official deadline to ban single-use plastic by 1 January 2026.

Through Deliveroo’s web packaging store, restaurant partners have the option to choose from over 20 items including food containers, paper bags, cups, bottles, cutlery, and napkins. Restaurant partners can also customise their selected products with their own branding. Deliveroo has worked closely with Sineo Packaging to curate a selection of products that are optimised for delivery while providing ample variations depending on cuisine. All items from Sineo Packaging are made from recyclable, biodegradable or compostable materials. By opting for supplies from the Deliveroo packaging web store, restaurants can help the planet by reducing landfill and having eco-consciousness at the forefront of their business.

All items available through the store have been tested for heat retention, toughness and stability thereby reducing incidents such as cold food, and spillage which will lead to increased customer satisfaction. The new service also offers hassle-free and quick delivery, within a time frame as short as 48h across the UAE. Through Deliveroo’s scale and size, restaurant partners are offered rates lower than market value, making this an effective cost-saving solution for brands during a time when other costs in the F&B business are on the rise.

Speaking about the launch, Anis Harb, General Manager at Deliveroo Middle East said, “As a socially responsible company, Deliveroo is committed to making environmentally friendly choices, and to do so, we believe in leading by example. Providing our restaurant partners with environmentally friendly packaging solutions is an important part of this. We hope this launch will benefit our restaurant partners as they help create a greener future with us, and by extension, offer the same to their customers.”

Antoine Moussali, Co-Founder, Sineo Packaging said, “We’re excited to go live with our Deliveroo packaging web store. Sineo Packaging has always taken pride in the way our packaging is produced; with sustainability at the heart of everything we do. Thousands of restaurants that use the Deliveroo platform now have the opportunity to purchase packaging that is tried, tested and optimised for delivery. We’re sure this partnership will go a long way in making food delivery in the UAE more sustainable and will also help restaurants garner long-term loyalty from customers who are becoming increasingly committed to reducing their personal carbon footprint.”

The launch of the packaging web store is the latest programme to join Deliveroo’s ongoing ESG initiatives, under which the company distributed thousands of reusable  water bottles for riders to support the Dubai Can initiative last year. In late 2022, Deliveroo also partnered with Shredex to introduce ‘responsible rider kit disposal’ in support of UAE’s vision to completely divert waste from landfills by 2030. In addition, Deliveroo was the first platform in the UAE to introduce the opt-in cutlery feature through the app, encouraging consumers and restaurants to reduce their plastic waste by ordering cutlery only if needed.

Deliveroo’s mission to help restaurant partners become more sustainable is in line with UN Sustainable Development Goals and UAE’s Net Zero 2050 initiative. Deliveroo aims to continue building its ESG-driven initiatives in the UAE – in this case, one delivery package at a time.
