Domino Printing Sciences has launched the Ax560i continuous inkjet (CIJ) printer, adding predictive maintenance and print quality controls to its Ax-Series coding and marking range. The company says the system is intended for packaging manufacturers managing operator turnover, labour shortages and unplanned production stoppages.

 

 

Domino will display the printer at PACK EXPO International in Chicago, United States, from 18 to 21 October 2026, at booth S-2843.

 

 

“The Ax560i has been developed in direct response to some of the biggest challenges facing manufacturers today,” said Phil Parkins, Domino’s senior product manager for CIJ. He cited production demands, labour shortages, operator turnover and the cost of unplanned downtime.

 

 

The printer monitors individual components to flag potential faults and provides guidance for scheduling printhead cleaning during planned breaks. Cloud dashboards show printer health and performance data, while remote access can support troubleshooting. Domino says these functions can work with its SafeGuard service offering.

 

 

For coding quality, the Ax560i includes an automated printhead cleaning system called CleanAssist, nozzle face sealing for restarts after planned shutdowns, and an air drying system intended for damp production conditions. Its redesigned printhead and QuickStep 3 interface include operator guidance for routine functions.

 

 

The printer can use Domino Designer for centralised management of coding messages. Domino also says it can be integrated with its coding automation and vision systems to check codes and reduce manual input. For factory connectivity, the Ax560i supports Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA and Domino’s Dynamark protocol.

 

 

The announcement does not provide measured uptime, waste reduction or print quality results for the Ax560i. Its stated functions target maintenance planning and consistent coding across shifts and packaging production sites, where incorrect codes can require product rework or create waste.
