Egypt signs deals to support projects to controlling industrial pollution

The Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) has announced its financing agreement adding to €22 million with SEMADCO, Flex P Films, and Huhtamaki Egypt. These agreements aim to support industrial and investment facilities related to the third phase of the pollution control program, which is one of the Ministry of Environment’s projects to enhance the industrial sector.

The program provides financial and technical support to industrial projects, including those that promote environmental compatibility and energy efficiency systems.

The agreements include the construction of a water plant for industrial wastewater by SEMADCO, which will cost €13.56 million. Flex P Films will construct a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste recycling line worth €16.05 million. Huhtamaki Egypt will be responsible for building an ethyl acetate solvent recovery unit for €3.59 million.

In addition to the financing agreements, a cooperation protocol was signed between the EEAA and the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal (SCZone) to support various Egyptian industrial projects within the authority’s scope. The signing was attended by Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad.
