InSoft Automation announces latest software version

Release of Version 12 of Imp: Print estimation and imposition software

InSoft Automation, a leading provider of print automation software products, has announced the general release of version 12 of its print estimation, imposition and ganging software Imp.

A winner of the coveted 2016 Intertecht Technology Award, Imp is a dynamic system for creating layouts that extend beyond optimising paper or print substrate usage. It intelligently optimises costs and throughput across all process steps in the production chain.

Sophisticated algorithms shrink job times from hours to minutes. Built-in software intelligence automates print ready layout creation and estimation by eliminating steps, reduce labor costs, and increases productivity. Imp software accepts multiple technical inputs for a job and dynamically computes optimal layouts, estimates costs on various devices from pre-press to finishing, and recommends the cost-efficient devices to employ in a production run. Job estimates are calculated in seconds, and accurate layouts can be used throughout the production process.

New features:

  • A faster pure-nesting algorithm for non-rectangular jobs is now shipped with Imp and ImpFlow applications.
  • A new add-on application: Scourer, an add-on application to Imp that can be used to clean-up and convert existing flat die-layout files for use with Imp or Imp’s die library.
  • Multiple features for extensive support of label printing on continuous rolls.
  • Many refinements and enhancements which make print layout calculations better and better priced estimates retaining your margins.
  • Many refinements and enhancements to features which automate print layout preparation with precise placement of PDF pages, color bars and other marks, required for printing and post-printing operations.

Sashikanth Goparaju, chief technology officer, of InSoft Automation said, “This new pure-nesting algorithm is a game changer when it comes to ganging of non-rectangular jobs”.

Santosh Mulay, vice president, business development of InSoft Automation added, “The die-library module of Imp has been a popular and well appreciated innovation in our software. It makes searching for re-usable dies easy and automated. However, seeding the die-database with existing legacy dies/die CAD files was laborious and time-consuming, mainly because of inconsistent formats and ill-defined geometries. The Scourer app is our answer to address this problem and help our customers”.
